We believe in the power of the classroom. You are a better REALTOR® when you have the tools and knowledge to succeed. As your association, we can help you meet the national, state and local standards to maintain the REALTOR® "R".

State Minimum Requirements
The Tennessee Real Estate Commission (TREC) requires every REALTOR® to complete 16 hours of continuing education (CE) courses within the two years preceding your licence expiration date. That means you have two years to take 16 hours of classes. TREC requires their own core course, which is six hours long, and an additional 10 hours of electives. WCAR offers Trec Core courses and TREC-approved electives throughout the year to help you meet your requirement. To check your CE hours, please visit Verify.TN.gov
National REALTOR® Ethics Requirement
All REALTORS® must complete the National Association of REALTORS® ethics course. At this time, the requirement is to complete the class every two years. Regardless of which association you belong to, all REALTORS® must complete this course.
Below are the cycle dates for the Code of Ethics Training Requirement. Training must be completed at any time during these established cycles. Failure to complete training during any cycle will lead to suspension of membership for the January and February immediately following the cycle deadline, with the termination of membership starting March 1 after the cycle deadline.
January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018
January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020
WCAR Ethics Requirement
All associations and commercial schools offer an ethics course to meet NAR's minimum standard. However, they are not created equal. That's why REALTORS® at WCAR are held to a higher standard. The Education Committee wants to ensure that all WCAR members understand the full 17 articles of the Code of Ethics as well as the Pathways to Professionalism. Some of the courses offered at other associations and commercial schools only cover six articles from the Code of Ethics. Please check with us before completing your ethics course to ensure the class you take meets your requirement as a WCAR member.
