TREC Requirements

We believe in the power of the classroom. You are a better REALTOR® when you have the tools and knowledge to succeed. As your association, we can help you meet the national, state, and local standards to maintain the REALTOR® "R".

State Minimum Requirements

The Tennessee Real Estate Commission (TREC) requires every REALTOR® to complete 16 hours of continuing education (CE) courses within the two years preceding your license expiration date. That means you have two years to take 16 hours of classes. TREC requires their own core course, which is six hours long, and an additional 10 hours of electives. WCAR offers TREC Core courses and TREC-approved electives throughout the year to help you meet your requirements. To check your CE hours, please visit Verify.TN.gov

National REALTOR® Ethics Requirement

All REALTORS® must complete the National Association of REALTORS® ethics course. At this time, the requirement is to complete the class every three years. Regardless of which association you belong to, all REALTORS® must complete this course.

Below are the cycle dates for the Code of Ethics Training Requirement. Training must be completed at any time during these established cycles. Failure to complete training during any cycle will lead to suspension of membership for the January and February immediately following the cycle deadline, with the termination of membership starting March 1 after the cycle deadline.

Current Code of Ethics Cycle

The cycle is every 3 calendar years with the current cycle being from January 1, 2022- December 31, 2024.

TREC Livestream CE Course Guidelines

Students are responsible for the performance of their own technology including audio volume, video clarity, and reliable internet connection. We use the Zoom platform. For more information about Zoom, please check their website at www.zoom.us. Video, audio, and internet access are all needed to successfully “attend” class.
